Lily Trevino, who often plays the role of caregiver to people like her father who should be taking care of her, yearns for family connection after being abandoned by her mother as a child and then suddenly by her father in his twenties. Bob Trevino works long hours alone at a construction company to support his wife, Jeanie,’s scrapbooking habit. The couple has endured a lot over the past decade, and Bob has tried to put his wife first, to the point of ignoring his own feelings and his need for friendship, meaning, and connection—that is, until he receives an unexpected Facebook message from a stranger. Lily and Bob’s blossoming friendship becomes a vital source of connection and healing in both of their lives. Bob’s acts of fatherly kindness fill a family void in Lily’s life and have the potential to change the course forever. In their own ways, they must both learn that they are worthy of extraordinary love, exemplified by small acts of kindness.
