I am a huge fan of Dexter

Miami, 1991. With his bloodthirsty urges no longer being ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to control his inner darkness as he transforms from student to vengeful serial killer under the tutelage of his father, Harry. Christian Slater was older than James Remar when Dexter (2006) first aired. It was followed by the movie Dexter: Resurrection (2025).

Dexter (seasons 1-8) is the only show I watch consistently

Like Harry (according to Dexter), change is not easy for me either. So when Dexter: New Blood came out, at first the change of setting, the coldness, the absence of beloved characters, the lack of humor and Latin music were huge disappointments for me. However, after watching it as a standalone show (without comparing it to the original), it grew on me. Now, with this new show, of course, we are not used to new faces in the cast.

We all remember how different young Dexter, Deb, and Harry looked, even Laura Moser. But I think it’s perhaps unfair to judge the casting, since we’re not in the shoes of the casting directors and producers. I think there were a lot of factors to consider besides the similar looks. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, James Remar, and the rest of the original cast could magically play younger versions of their own characters, but time only goes one way.

(Bonus: I really like Christian Slater

He’s amazing as always!) So far, I’m enjoying it, having watched the first episode twice. I think they all did a decent job filling Dexter’s big shoes. In fact, I can’t deny that I’m even more excited for Dexter: Resurrection now that I’ve seen Dexter’s resuscitation in the ER. .

In short: I think this show is cool and will probably grow on me even more over time. If you’re a Dexter fan, go in with no specific expectations or judgment. Update your watchlist on Paramount+ with the latest selection of streaming movies and TV shows coming this month.
