Synopsis
A grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives, including his own. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted “a Harrison Ford type”; and was prepared to audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least bring it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that the project was being pitched to Harrison Ford, sparking interest from other notable actors.

In the end, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was elated nonetheless. And the rest of the show is great, too. Jason Segel is a great choice for this script.
And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, idiotically confident energy that the role requires. Her humor is just right for the dialogue. This is a new breed of sitcom. No real punchlines, just engaging personalities with a pinch of quirkiness and family circumstances that are just a little off the mark, but still relatable.
You’d lose your license immediately
Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. Simply impossible. But drama allows for metaphorical situations. And in this script, we feel a strong sense of purpose in the decisions.

We have to give the writers credit and try to get the point across. I find it easy and fun.
