Synopsis

Following the events of “Batman” (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, attempts to take over the reins of Gotham’s underworld. Colin Farrell and Christine Milioti talk about how they got used to the characters while filming “The Penguin.” Colin Farrell fought hard for his version of the Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but to no avail. In his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco smoker who prefers cigars. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros.

Pharrell STEALS this series

logo. Starring Graham Norton & Guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). He’s impressive. There’s nothing about the character that even remotely suggests Farrell.

Well-written and intense

The New York dialect, the sway and limp, the attitude: you’d swear it was a different person. The amazing prosthetics are very realistic and complement the character. The performance is hard and visual. There’s nothing cartoonish about it.

It’s a shame

That makes him an excellent counterpart to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I’d say it blows Marvel’s line out of the water. I hope they can get a season 2, but I know it’s limited. HBO has a legitimate hit on its hands.
