Synopsis
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports broadcasting crew finds itself thrust into covering the hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes
The tragic events of Munich 1972 are a reminder of the evils in this world; history should always keep us AWARE.This was the "mystery" movie at Regal.
The collective hush of the moviegoers as the film started was amusing in trying to figure out what movie was going to playThis is my type of movie, serious drama, so as it started, I had high hopes
I will try with earnest not to reveal spoilers or too much!Yet the vibe soon wore on me as a movie attempting to be intense and dramatic (perhaps too focused on wanting to give great acting rather than relaxing into the characters and letting intense energies unfold naturally), so I found this movie was missing some bite, a forced vibe in scenes."Get coffee." Isn't every grown adult in an office, or office-like setting, able to get their own coffee?
Yet this movie was a reminder of the times and lack of female leadership in the news, especially sports news
I get that this movie is trying to recreate events and thus using historical figures, but I found so many of the scenes having the guys in charge discussing a bit much.It was surreal to see how a tragic historic tragedy was happening in the same vicinity or a sporting event.
People first, sports second
But there is a lot of money involved with the Olympics and large sporting events.
So the games continued on
Although I might give this movie another go and see my thoughts the second time around. The acting was good (granted, as said, there was a forced effort to want intensity rather than intrinsic organic nature that pushes the acting into GREAT), and the scenes, sets, clothes, makeup, flow, and script were also strong.
