Match vs eHarmony: a New Website Weighs in on the Debate
gives their opinion on the discussion of Match vs eHarmony; which is better? The say each website has its pros and cons, but one site is significantly better for matchmaking.
A new website provides reviews for dating sites, and says eHarmony is better for those looking for serious relationships, while Match is better for those looking to just start dating.
“Match vs eHarmony is a debate that has gone on as long as online dating has been popular,” the website owners say. “And the differences are in the details.”
The website explains that eHarmony is the better choice for daters looking to find a serious partner to be in a long-term, marriage-type relationship with. Why? Because the compatibility testing is much more in depth.
The website older women dating says the negatives to eHarmony are that the initial sign up takes longer because there are more questions to answer about yourself and your desired partner, and it costs a little bit more green. But the site says that with those things come an onslaught of more serious members who are committed to being committed.
“Match is still a great community of online daters,” Best Dating Websites Reviews explains. It states that if you become a member of Match, you are still likely to find people you will enjoy being around. You will still find and go on dates. “How could you not with the amount of members on Match?” They say Match has over 20 million members now.
The pricing differences for the sites are as follows. Match costs $ for one month of standard service. Then you can choose between a standard or premium package which rings in at $ per month for a three month standard package, and $ per month for a premium three month package. The six month packages come to $ per month for the standard package, and $ per month for the six month premium package.
The standard package includes full access to the site and the mobile site. The premium package also includes email read notifications so you know when someone has viewed your message, first impressions, and a highlighted profile in the search results.
eHarmony’s pricing is just a bit higher. It costs $ for a basic one month package, $ per month for a basic three month package, $ per month for six months, and $ per month for twelve months. Their premium package is called their Total Connect package, and three months of that is $ per month, six months is $ per month, and twelve months is $ per month.
Basic plans give full access to eHarmony’s site, Best Dating Websites Reviews explains. And the Total Connect packages add a Premium Personality Profile, Secure Call, RelyID, and Profile Advisor (you can read more about these features in the site’s full eHarmony review).
From just the marketing you can tell that eHarmony is made for the more mature, “ready to settle down” crowd, while Match is made for the younger, “just looking to date” crowd.
Right now when you go to eHarmony, you see big text that says, “Beat the odds, Bet on love with eHarmony. Our bold, scientific approach to matching means more quality dates with deeply compatible singles that truly understand you.” This portrays the idea that people are really looking for long-term relationships here.
On the other hand, when you go to Match you see, “It’s FREE to Look… Register now to see who’s in your area!” The emphasis here is immediate. “Looking” is the focus, which fulfills a short term desire to be turned on. Even the sites’ title tags show the difference in the goal of their business. Match reads, “Find Singles with Match’s Online Dating Personals Service.” eHarmony reads, “Find Compatible Single Men or Women Near You.” Just the insertion of the word “compatible” means the world in the difference of online dating sites.
Jennifer, a 23-year-old flight attendant based out of New York, recently sent us the story of her experience with online dating. “I used to live in Washington, but when I became a flight attendant I got relocated. Obviously in New York I didn’t know anyone but my coworkers. I wanted to start dating but had literally no time to put towards searching for a good guy. So instead I opened a few accounts on different dating sites just to see if anything good would come from it.
The free dating site accounts I closed pretty quickly. I was receiving nothing but spammy messages and phone numbers of guys telling me they were going to send me pictures of their junk.
The two sites I actually got dates from were Match and eHarmony. But if I had to ask myself which I’d choose again, Match vs eHarmony, the answer would be easy. My dates from eHarmony were the only dates that produced compatible partners. I actually ended up in an 18 month relationship with one guy I met there. It went very well, but in the end we didn’t quite work out. So of course I went back to my profile after we broke up, went on a few more dates, and am now 6 months along in a new relationship that seems to be going very well.”

A new video released on eHarmony’s YouTube channel touts that the divorce rate of marriages brought together by their site is only 5%. The founder Dr. Neil Clark Warren started out as a psychologist in Pasadena, California. He says his goal is to change the world by helping people create “great marriages” by getting them off to a great start and helping them bond for the right reasons. He says proper online dating is a social revolution because it takes luck out of the equation for finding the right person for you.
So for matchmaking, the site says the cake most definitely goes to eHarmony. And anyone looking to sign up and find their mate should give it an honest try.
